What is Chevening Scholarship?
The Chevening Scholarships Initiative, formerly known as the Foreign and Commonwealth Office Awards Scheme (FCOAS), was established in 1983 and is supported by the British government’s Foreign and Commonwealth Office and its related stakeholders. The project’s declared goal is to create a network of UK friends who will be future leaders in their respective nations.
The scheme’s name was changed to Chevening in 1994, after Chevening House in Sevenoaks, Kent, which now serves as the combined official residence of the British Foreign Secretary and the British Deputy Prime Minister.
Chevening is the United Kingdom’s international scholarship program. It offers awards to study in the UK for one year on a fully funded master’s degree course, funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office and partner organizations.
Nigeria is one of many countries represented among the Chevening applicants, and they all have different backgrounds, but they all exhibit the drive, ambition, and skills needed to improve the world.
There are several advantages to being chosen, including completely supported tuition expenses, access to some of the world’s highest quality education, unique networking opportunities; and the opportunity to discover the UK’s rich culture.
You will join Chevening’s various networks of over 50,000 worldwide graduates at the completion of your scholarship. You are expected to return home with the knowledge gained and networks you need to bring your ideas to life and succeed in your profession.
It makes no difference where you come from. What matters is where you’re headed.
